Wanna Get Nominated?

Because I’m too lazy to surf around and I don’t read too many weblogs these days, if you want to have a chance to get your weblog nominated by me in this year’s Weblog Awards, please leave your weblog name and URL as well as the categories in which it can be nominated in the comment thingy. I’ll take a look at each one and those whom I think are worthy of a nomination will be nominated. Bribery will be happily accepted.

The usual suspects (you know who you are) need not apply because I’ll nominate your weblogs anyway even if some of you haven’t updated yours for ages and therefore don’t really deserve the nomination. I do love you that much. Mwah!

(I doubt anyone would want to submit their weblog for closer inspection because, really, who needs my nomination? But still it’s worth trying.)

One of my favourite t-shirts is one with the word “slacker” printed on its front with big, red, bold letters. It’s my favourite because of its inside-jokish quality.

See, I live in a non-English-speaking country where most people have no idea what “slacker” means. Those who don’t know the meaning probably wouldn’t care and I’d be able to think to myself, “If only they knew the meaning, they’d probably laugh at me.” Those who do know the meaning probably would think to themselves, “If only that girl knew the meaning, she probably wouldn’t want to wear that t-shirt.” But I do know the meaning yet I wear the t-shirt anyway! Ha-ha! I got you!

Now if only I could find a t-shirt with “weirdo” printed on its front with big, red, bold letters, my life would be complete.

X Of The Year

I should’ve posted this list yesterday before the new year came but I was just too lazy. Still it’s better late than never so here we go:

Troy. He helped me get through the year, and God knows what a tough year 2002 was for me. I wouldn’t have made it this far without him. Thanks, Troy! :)

Rebecca. She kept my tiny little design business going and my bills paid on time, and still considered me as a friend despite all the hassles and annoyances. Plus, she’d marry me. Too bad we’re not gay.

Donnie Darko. I absolutely love it. The movie is impossible to get a hold of in Indonesia (as is the case with any independent movie) but I got a copy courtesy Troy.

A tie between Blink 182’s “Stay Together For The Kids”, New Found Glory’s “My Friends Over You”, and Gary Jules’ “Mad World”. The third song is from the movie “Donnie Darko”. It’s a cover of a Tears for Fears song from the 80s and the only one of those three that has great lyrics. I liked the first two simply because the lyrics hit close to home.

A tie between Gadget and Modern No. 20. When in doubt about which font to use for a title image/logo design, a pick between those two would never go wrong.

Grey. Grey was the new orange.

“Look — don’t ruin the fantasy. We know the reality… It’s all bleak and yuck and blah!” Courtesy Rebecca.

I made my dream of working from home doing web design come true. Go me! A not so close second would be winning another Bloggy despite my endless complaints about it being nothing but a popularity contest.

Speaking of Bloggies, you can nominate my weblog again this year if you like. Nikolai has started accepting nominations for the 2003 Bloggies. I’ll try to bitch less about it this year :)

Well, here’s hoping that the next X of The Year list will be a lot more interesting than this.

Sad New Year

It’s 2003 already in my part of the world and the only good thing that I could report so far is that the world hasn’t come to an end.

I spent the New Year’s Eve online with Kazaa Lite, downloading some mp3s at the speed of 0.50 byte/second. You should try it some time. It’s good for your soul, especially if you’re used to lightning fast internet access.

I don’t celebrate the new year and I can’t see why I should. Electricity and phone rates get more expensive effective today, which means that life is bound to be even harder, and my mother is still sick. What’s there to celebrate?
