Well, that’s all folks! Thank you for riding the NaBloPoMo train(wreck?) with me for a whole month. I guess I’m supposed to say something introspective about blogging in the end, but unfortunately, I don’t really have anything to say other than blogging because you have to is not as much fun as blogging because you want to. There were days during the NaBloPoMo when I would rather just go to bed instead of having to think up a post before going to bed. You see, my life is not really all that interesting. The state of the world, on the other hand, is interesting, but if I blogged about it, I would only end up feeling depressed and angry. Thinking up a post when you’re sleepy is just So! Frickin’! Hard! I know I could’ve written the post long before the day almost ended but I was always kind of expecting that something interesting would happen so I could blog about it. But most of the time, nothing happened. So I just blogged about nothing!
I’d like to thanks tia, Sarah and Lance for commenting, even on posts that don’t really have any substance (read: posts about nothing). You rock! I still have yet to count up the number of comments to determine the contest winner. That’ll be my blog fodder for tomorrow. Ha!
On a non-bloggy note, don’t you just love the picture above? I really want to have it printed and hang on one of our walls. (Is it vain to love a picture you took yourself?) I also love that little lamp with colourful, beaded shade I got from a thrift store ages ago. It’s so great for experimenting with shaped bokeh. I just knew that lamp would come in handy someday!
Let’s end this post with three cheers for everyone who made it to the end of NaBloPoMo this year without missing a post. I’ll do the hip hip part and you do the hooray, okay? Ready? Hip hip [hooray]! Hip hip [hooray]! Hip hip [hooray]!
Excellent! Now give yourself a pat on the back for me. Good job, everyone!
Went to do some shopping this morning, then came to visit friends and we played games until close to 11pm. Made it home before midnight, just in time to post something to the blog. Phew. That was close! The drive was a little suspenseful with all the foggy patches caused by the warmish weather today. The fog was pretty thick in some spots. Anyway, it’s good to be home again. Now I’ve got to find me some snack. Kind of hungry!
No Black Friday for me since I don’t live in the States, but even if I did, I don’t think I would go because I’m not a die-hard shopper, I don’t want to risk losing my life in a shopper stampede, and being in a crowded place gives me a headache. Besides, shopping online is so much more convenient. Nonetheless, if you live south of the border from me, I hope you got a lot of good deals. I’d write more but I have a party to go to. Eeek! Here’s hoping this is the last one for the season…
Oh, while we’re on the topic of Black Friday, buy my prints.
They make a perfect gift for that special someone with boring walls. No stampedes guaranteed at my shop! ;)
Is the American Thanksgiving today or tomorrow? Well, either way, happy Thanksgiving. Have a nice turkey dinner while up here we mourn the lack of new TV shows. No new Life On Mars! No new Grey’s Anatomy! Oh noes! Needless to say, it’s a pretty boring Thursday night. But at least we got some Christmas shopping done.
Someone from a record company contacted me today about sending me mp3 of one of their artists named Holly Throsby. She’s in Hayden‘s latest album, In Field and Town, singing the song “Weight of The World” with him. I thought she had a lovely voice. Anyway, they sent me the mp3 of a song by Holly Throsby called “Would You”, which is a duet with Bonnie Prince Billy. That particular song didn’t really do it for me but some of her other songs did. Go check out “The Time It Takes”, “To Begin With”, and “Now I Love Someone” on Holly’s myspace for some poppy music goodness. Beautiful voice, lovely lyrics, sweet music, what else do you need? Definitely a good find.
Earlier this evening I checked my referrer stats and saw that I got a bunch of hits from Smashing Magazine. Turns out they just posted an article about “back to top” links and for some reasons, a screenshot of my “back to top” link was used as an example. Good to know someone thinks I did something right with this site. :) Thanks, Smashing Magazine! (I guess.) And to all the new visitors, feel free to look around and say hi!
We have another Christmas party to go to tomorrow night. Yay fun. It’s a corporate Christmas party this time. We already “crashed” a corporate Christmas party earlier this month. The company flew Penn & Teller all the way from Las Vegas to Kitchener to perform in front of their employees and those willing to pay to see them (like us). The comedy magic show at the party tomorrow is going to look really pale in comparison to Penn & Teller. At least this time we’ll get to eat the food. I’m almost 100% sure there will be turkey. I love turkey. Both alive and roasted.
We spent yesterday in Toronto. First, we went to visit our friends who recently had a baby. The baby had a big poop while I was holding him in my arms. It was kind of stinky. It’s been ages since I had to smell baby poo. Thank god for diapers that don’t leak.
At lunchtime, we went to this middle eastern fast food restaurant where both we and the restaurant got our orders confused and Troy ended up having to eat stuff he didn’t necessarily like which he finished anyway and I had to eat a big meal which I felt bad for not finishing.
After lunch, the three of us (Troy, the baby’s dad, and I) went to the newly renovated Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). I thought 3 hours would be enough time to see everything in the gallery but I was wrong. We would’ve needed at least another hour, but unfortunately, we had to leave because we had to meet a friend at a Chinese restaurant for dinner.
I still wasn’t super hungry after the big lunch episode but I wished I had been. We ordered a lot of yummy stuff and I really wanted to eat more but my tummy was so full so I just ended up watching the rest of the group eat all the dumplings and pancakes.
Our next destination was the gallery where the group art show I was part of was held. It was the closing night. We came half an hour early so we offered to help prepare things for the event before trying to finish a quiz in order to enter a contest with a $500 prize. Seven of our friends (including the baby) came to the closing event and one of them won the $500! Lucky her.
Around 9pm we went back to our friends’ apartment to hang out more with them and the baby and have some hot chocolate before we headed back home. We had to drive through the rain and snow to get home but the roads were surprisingly still in good condition. We got home after midnight and went to bed and slept in.
I’ve been feeling blah all day today. I experimented with some photography techniques to distract my mind from thinking about things that would make me cry and the photo above was one of the results. Cheesy or cool? You be the judge.
