Have You Voted Yet?

Hey, folks, you only have less than a week left to cast your vote for the Bloggie winners, so get your votes in today! Those of you who have voted for me without me having to harrass you, I can’t thank you enough. You are the bestest :)

Anyway, my Bloggie votes are more personal in nature than anything, and I’ve decided not to place a vote in categories with weblogs I’ve never read. If you’re interested in knowing whom I voted for, read on. If not, just ignore this post.

These are the weblogs I voted for and the reason I voted for them:

Best meme: Friday Five.
Reason: It gives Troy something to blog about and I get all excited when he updates. Enough said.

Best article or essay about weblogs: Pass.
Reason: Don’t like any of ‘em. I like funny articles/essays. None of them is funny to me.

Best weblog directory or update monitor: Blogdex.
Reason: It’s neither a weblog directory, nor an update monitor, but I like Blogdex, so Blogdex it is.

Best web application for weblogs: Movable Type.
Reason: Do you really need a reason?

Best Australian or New Zealand weblog: Loobylu.
Reason: I’ve always liked Claire’s drawing, and Claire is a lovely person.

Best Asian weblog: Antipixel.
Reason: It’s about the only weblog in this category that I read, even if only on very rare occasions.

Best African or Middle Eastern weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Best European weblog: Ben Hammersley’s Dangerous Precedent.
Reason: I had to decide between Ben’s and Textism and Ben’s won because Ben is European.

Best British or Irish weblog: PlasticBag.org.
Reason: Tom is like my favourite British gay guy. I used to have a crush on him. Once upon a time, I was even in his weblog’s sidebar.

Best Latin American weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Best Canadian weblog: Mezzoblue.
Reason: Anyone who can come up with such a cool project as the CSS Zen Garden is worth my vote. Plus, Dave Shea is cute ;)

Best American weblog: Dooce.
Reason: I used to read her and Heather was funny. My vote went to Dooce for old time’s sake.

Best tagline of a weblog: Pass.
Reason: This category is just plain silly.

Best photography of a weblog: Ten Years of My Life.
Reason: It’s got concept. Yes it is. And I like things with concept.

Best non-weblog content of a weblog site: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them, except for my own, and I’m not going to vote for myself, so there.

Best programming of a weblog site: 1976Design.com.
Reason: It’s the only nominee with a roll-your-own weblogging system. Plus, the header images are wicked cool!

Best weblog about music: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them. I listen to Moby’s music but it’s not a good enough reason to vote for him.

Best weblog about politics: This Modern World.
Reason: It’s the only nominee with entries that sort of make sense to me.

Best web development weblog: The Daily Report.
Reason: It’s always interesting, never boring. Found the best links on web design there.

Best computers or technology weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Best topical weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Best GLBT weblog: Little Yellow Different.
Reason: Ernie is funny and he makes being Asian sound so cool; cooler than it really is.

Most humorous weblog: Margaret Cho.
Reason: Many times I found Margaret say things I wanted to say but couldn’t find the words for.

Best group weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Best community weblog: MetaFilter.
Reason: It’s the only one where I’m a member. Good enough reason, no?

Best-designed weblog: SixFoot6.
Reason: I don’t read any of them but I know a good design when I see one.

Best-kept-secret weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Best new weblog: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them.

Lifetime achievement: Heather Champ.
Reason: I always liked the late Harrumph!, and the Mirror Project is simply one of the coolest web projects in existence. It gives a new meaning to narcissism.

Weblog of the year: Pass.
Reason: Don’t read any of them, except for my own, and I’m not going to vote for myself, so there. (Yay for copy-and-paste!)

Now go cast your vote, and make sure you vote for me in the two categories I’m nominated for because a vote for me is a vote for my happiness and you all want me to be happy, right? Right? Right. How’s that for shameless self-promotion? ;)
