Three Years Without

Mama (1943-2003) (1/6)
My mother passed away exactly three years ago today. There is no day passed that I didn’t think about her. There is so few things left to do for people you love who have passed, if any. It’s kind of frustrating. All I can do every year on the anniversary of her passing is do something that I think she would like. I thought she would appreciate me taking pictures just for her if she knew that I was into photography, so I decided to create Three Years Without, a photo essay about her.
Anyway, Troy and I are going up to the cottage today for the long weekend. See you guys on Monday night!

  1. What a lovely essay, Firda. Your mum was beautiful, and she’d be so proud of you.
Anniversaries are difficult, I know. My mum passed away six years ago, and I still miss her every day.
Be well today. I’m sure your husband will take care of you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Your photo set and story are so touching, Firda. In them I can feel your love for her and how much you miss her…
    Have a nice weekend dear:)

  3. I lost my mother on August 11, 2001. I have many of the same thoughts and feelings you do.
While I’m not a Celine Dion fan, I find the lyrics of “I’m Everything I Am Because You Loved Me” make me feel better. They’re like a thanksgiving prayer to her.
    I wish you peaceful memories.

  4. You appear to be still grieving after three years. In fairness to yourself and those around you some might say “Its time you learned to move on!” Yes, it is right and it is healthy to grieve …but for how long?

  5. My Mom was my best friend and passed away in 1998 at age 60. I miss her every day and certainly understand how you feel. I loved her so much!
